Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) workshops are based around the belief that when parties are engaged in conflict, there is a power working within the parties that is able to transform the situation from a violent to a nonviolent one. AVP workshops therefore focus participants on recognizing this โ€œTransforming Powerโ€ at work in them and in their opponent and learning how to let it have its way during a conflict.

About us

The Center for Hope and Empowerment (CHEK) is an organization registered under the national NGO in Kenya as full fledged not-for-profit entity. We exist to help create an equitable and just world for Everyone without favoritism.

We are committed to working with โ€œthe least of theseโ€ โ€“ marginalized populations โ€“ to offer hope and help them be empowered to improve their quality of life.

We use proven, practical and experiential training curriculums specially formulated to educate, affirm, and motivate, offering practical tools to help those at the margins of society to navigate through their circumstances with confidence to achieve a more secure, successful, and fulfilling life.
